Electronic medical records are mandated by 2014, but currently less than 20% of healthcare providers have EMR solutions. openEMR is an open source product that is already available, but it is based on mySql. I am conducting a couple of field trials that involve converting openEMR to postgres.
Talk with give a brief background in EMR and the openEMR project, the decision to port it to postgres, and issues encountered in the porting process.
