While Postgres is generally considered easy to administer, these days it's config file contains hundreds of variables, which many find rather daunting. However, as it turns out, there are only about a dozen or so config variables you really need to deal with to get your Postgres in decent shape. In this talk, we'll break down the major areas that most people need to know about, and then discuss the config variables you'll most likely need to know.

We won't cover everything, but that's the point: highlight the things you need to know, explain them, and then tell you the real defaults you should be using. Eliminate the common mistakes people make and make sure you're in good shape to keep moving forward. No cruft, just the essential postgresql.conf.
